VIRTUES AND VICES OF CANCER
VIRTUE: MATERNAL LOVE. VICE CO-DEPENDENCE ON OTHERS.
Cancer, the Crab is guided by the light of the Moon. She skitters sideways between the tidal tears of the Ocean and shifting sands on the shore of the Earth. She is ever ready to withdraw into her soft shell. Cancers take on the path of purification and catharsis as initiations. These initiations promote awareness of their sacred task of aligning life forces with our True Inner Self. They may have to roam far and ride the tides widely going full circle, allowing their maternal urges to take care of others first, before they finally end up in front of a mirror to discover their own individuality. Crabs must learn not to abandon themselves; give themselves away, or become dependent, or co-dependent on others. The Crab’s desire to flee or hide (between the tides) evolves until we find our “me” or “I AM”. They have natural devotional Love flowing through them. Sometimes Cancers provide a timely pinch to others when their emotions get threatened. In the Self behind all selves we find our selflessness. Cancers are the mystery of how spirit substance crosses the threshold and gives birth to material forms. Their challenge is to incarnate the power of creation into their physicality individually.
The Moon, ruler of Cancer, speaks the language of the soul and responds to the impulses of your natal Sun. She is about awakening the Divine Feminine in all of us. She rules feelings, rhythmic cycles and the ability to reflect perceptions. The Moon pulls the tides in bodies, our e-motions, and all the fluids of the Earth fall under her gravitational sway. The Moon embodies intuition that potentially breathes new insights and breaks the spells of closed circuit thinking. The circle can evolve and spring into a spiral. Fusion of intelligence and wisdom can bring the revelation of thinking through the heart.
Monday is the MOON’s day. The Moon influences our ability to reflect feelings and resonates with the 1st or root chakra. It is about cultivating right BELIEF in ourselves and fellow creatures. The Moon asks us to learn to appreciate our body as a physical and etheric temple and to understand our duty and responsibility to care for it. The Moon asks us “ What is my body asking of me to feel more sacred and whole?” Note your inner response(s) and say yes I will follow through with …. or no I will stop or manage differently appropriate actions according to your message.
